CHAPTER 5

BLESSING FOR THE PACT

Kolya

“Hristo, I’m in Moscow. Can you get here?”

“Okay, what trouble are you in?”

“It’s, uh—” I pause, looking at Fida to see if he is waking up to my voice. He opens his eyes, making an almost crying voice. “Well, after Samhain, if you can.”

“We better celebrate it together, yeah? I’m bringing the brothers.”

Hristo Krastev stepped up to the role of being the man of the house when all our fathers passed away. He always kept us rascals with our manners. Just like his Bulgar father, Krastyo, he towered high as he grew up. It was easier for him to pull our shirts from the back if we had arguments than to yell at us.

The humility he has to learn anything new is exceptional, even when our mentors chose me to be the leader of the Svyatoslavs. All six of us respect him so much for the way he glues our family together.

The phone is vibrating.

“Kolya? Saint.”

“Speak.”

“The Great One told me to come to you. He said that I’m the closest to you.”

“I’ll send you my location.”

“Anything you need? Is the package alright?”

“The package’s fine so far.”

“Are you alright, Brat’ya?”

“I, uh, don’t know what to do.”

“Aren’t we all clueless? Hang in there.” He hung up.

After five hours of recon in the desert, I kept watching them through my scope. The Din State members had been in and out of their compound all day long.

There they were, the women exited to compound to be transferred elsewhere. Whether they were young or old, their families either sold them or someone from the Din State kidnapped them for attending school in order to turn them into wife slaves.

I personally would have no hesitation in slaving my future wife in bed, but not like that. My future wife would have a say in becoming my sex slave, and she better beg for it.

I was about to take them down when that soldier appeared out of nowhere and slit their throats. ‘Why would a soldier be alone for an operation like this? Is he lost or what?’

I’m not sure what his motive was. If he aimed for the same target, he could get my ops easier. With so many Din State members coming his way, I cleared the ones around him. He looked in my direction for a few seconds before continuing to fight them.

‘Damn! Who was that man?’ All I could tell about him was that he was in a rage. There was something personal that he needed to burn down to ashes. He was doing his own shadow work, fighting the inner battle he had in his chest or mind.

He had high skills in close range combat. He didn’t even seem to need to bring any weapons. He used his bare hands and the enemy’s own weapons against them.

I wonder what built him that way. I wondered what happened to him that awakened the beast inside him. I kept helping him from afar, clearing his way to free those women. That was until I felt a heavy hit on my head.
